2008 is shaping up to be a busy year. In our briefings so far we have had very positive feedback on the concept of a network of experienced usability professionals with low infrastructure offering high value User Centred Design consulting services at comparatively modest rates.

On the research and development front, John Eklund has been appointed to the Scientific Committee of ICICTE (http://www.icicte.org), and will attend and present a paper on usability mid year. UX Research will also be presenting some of the latest methods integrating Usability and Web Analytics at STANZ in Sydney and Wellington in August.

This year sees the introduction of a new service offering in what’s sometimes called ‘discount’ usability, aimed at the web development community, who often have to balance the need for quality usability testing with tight timeframes and a modest budget. Testing may be on visuals and IA or functioning prototypes at any stage of development. While the report is less detailed and focuses on recommendations, the average number of usability issues identified in this usability testing is similar to a much larger study. Details of this are being forwarded to select digital agencies, or may be requested by sending an email to info@uxresearch.com.au.

We also started a Client Referral Program where selected clients are explicitly encouraged to spread the word about our service offerings so we may continue to expand our client list. To obtain details of this initiative call 1300 886520.
